Agentic enterprise

An agentic enterprise is an organization whose systems carry out work rather than only recording it. AI agents operate across business processes and applications, completing routine tasks, drafting outputs, and routing approvals, with people supervising outcomes instead of performing every step themselves.

Traditional business software stores state and waits for a human to act on it. A record sits in a CRM until someone opens it. The agentic framing inverts that: the system reads context, proposes or performs the next action, and involves a person where judgment is genuinely required.

The change is organizational as much as technical. It moves human effort from execution toward exception handling and review, which is why adoption usually stalls on process and trust rather than on model capability.
