Zero-trust AI

Zero-trust AI applies the principle of never trust, always verify to AI systems. Every inference request is authenticated regardless of origin, data access is authorized at the retrieval layer rather than the interface, outputs are filtered, and all activity is logged immutably so actions remain attributable.

Perimeter security assumes entities inside the network are trustworthy. AI breaks that assumption, because a system with broad access will find, summarize, and present sensitive material in response to a question that looks entirely reasonable in a log.

The control that matters most is where authorization is evaluated. Enforced in the interface, it can be bypassed through the API. Enforced at retrieval, it cannot be bypassed by asking differently.
